Our Goals

The mission of Emerging Chefs is to build youth connection to cooking and legacies of the food system through communal cooking rooted in cultural heritage using local and seasonal foods while building a safe learning environment and place of belonging.

Farm

Your fruits and vegetables

We center our culinary program around seasonality and connecting youth to local farms. We take field trips to farms  near Harrisonburg and Waynesboro.

Cook

Culturally appropriate foods

Our youth guide our curriculum and we design each semester based on their interests and cultural backgrounds. Each student gets to explore their passions.

Eat

Healthier food

Our program has a strong ethos that guides our sourcing practices. As much as possible, we source local, organic and fair trade products.
